Sequel…equel…equel…

17 October 2012

Facebook, in a “promoted post,” just asked me if I was excited to go see Paranormal Activity 4.

Excited would not be the word I’d use. Neither would “ambiguous.” Or “going.” If asked for an exact estimation of my feelings on Paranormal Activity 4, I’d have to say “could not give less of a shit.”

It’s not that I hate the film series. It’s just that it’s rare, in my experience, for any film in a series after the third one to be worth watching. First three Star Wars films? Great. Next three? Ugh. First three Lethal Weapon films? Indiana Jones films? Die Hard? All watchable. The ones after? Of poor quality.

There are exceptions. Pretty much all of the Saw films sucked. Star Trek films are hit or miss. Bond films are decent, usually, regardless of film number. But generally? Three films is all you’re going to get out of a concept.

Agree? Disagree? List evidence below!

Come one, Shawn! Leprechaun 4 found the wee’un in space! And Leprechaun: In the Hood was so great, they followed up with Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood! (You KNOW if it’s a “2” in place of “to” that it’s going to be great!) Next year we get Leprechaun: Origins.

Clearly, the Leprechaun franchise proves your theory wrong! 🙂

Well in regards to ST movies, Odd # usually = Good. Even # usually = Not that good.
