Attention all crew…
Back in the days before Netflix, or at least before I had Netflix, I somehow came across a British TV show called Hyperdrive. I honestly don’t remember how I came to find out about the show, only that I knew it had Nick Frost in the lead role, and that it was a science-fiction show.
I got my hands on the entire series (I can’t remember where) and watched all two seasons straight through in two nights. If you’ve never seen the show, it’s about a crew of mostly incompetent British explorers in the years 2151-2152. Their ship is the Camden Lock, and their mission directive is a vague “protect the interests of Britain in a changing galaxy.”
It’s a hilarious show, and one that actually manages to be decent sci-fi as well as good comedy. It’s on Netflix Instant now, so I’ll suggest watching it (it won’t take long — there are, I think, 12 episodes at half an hour each) during your Christmas break. You won’t be sorry.
Also, apologies — I’ve been slacking on the blog of late, but I’ve just been feeling quite run down. Perhaps as it’s the end of the year — I’m not sure. But I’ll attempt to keep on it better in the future.
